2025 Honda Civic Si in Rallye red

There’s something special about the Honda Civic Si, and it’s not just the hard-to-believe price tag. It strikes a terrific balance between its sportiness and practicality–it is a Civic, after all, and Civic’s are fairly famous for their no-frills nature. Yet the Si doesn’t necessarily feel minimalist, and exterior styling certainly makes an impression. With its almost-crouching frame and smooth lines, it looks about ready to pounce. Let’s take a closer look at the sporty trim of the Honda Civic lineup and see what makes it so special.

What Kind of Car is the Honda Civic Si?

The Honda Civic Si is a performance-oriented version of the standard Honda Civic. It is a compact sports sedan that combines the aforementioned practicality features that make it ridiculously fun to drive. Unlike the more aggressive Civic Type R, the Civic Si is designed to be sporty but still biased toward daily driving over racing. It’s also about $15,000 cheaper than the Type R, so there’s that. It’s a good entry level sports car, in other words. A little zip, a lot of fun, and a much lower monthly payment.

What Are The Engine Specs Of The Honda Civic Si?

The Honda Civic Si is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine. This engine produces 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque, giving it a solid balance of power and handling. The turbocharged setup provides strong mid-range torque, making the Si feel quick and responsive on the road. Like we said, it’s really fun to drive.

How Fast Does It Go?

The Honda Civic Si has a 0-60 mph time of around 6.8 seconds, which is quite respectable for a compact sports sedan in its class. It has an electronically limited top speed of approximately 137 mph. While not the fastest car on the market, it offers plenty of performance for zestier driving and highway cruising.

Is The Honda Civic Si Only Manual?

Yes, the Honda Civic Si is only available with a six-speed manual transmission. This transmission enhances the driver’s connection with the car, providing precise shifts and a more engaging driving experience. It’s part of what makes a Honda Civic Si so appealing: it is fully equipped with no further options besides summer tires (see below). No angsting over whether to choose manual or automatic, AWD or FWD, heated rear seats or not rear heated seats–all that jazz. The Honda Civic Si is what it is and you can’t change her (why would you want to?).

What’s New For The 2025 Honda Civic Si?

The 2025 Si is getting the same facelift as the rest of the 2025 Civic trims. This includes a new color option (see below), revamped front and rear ends, and redesigned tail lights. Heated front seats and a 10.2 inch digital instrument cluster are now standard, and the infotainment system will run on a Google platform with more apps to choose from.

Summer Tires For The 2025 Honda Civic Si

For an extra $300, you also have the option of upgrading to summer tires in the new model Si. Summer tires are especially nice for a sports car. They are made with a separate rubber compound that helps them grip the road in hot temperatures. The tread is also arranged in a different pattern that improves cornering and braking.

What Colors Are Available For The Honda Civic Si?

Honda offers the Civic Si in a variety of colors, including:

  • Crystal Black Pearl
  • Rallye Red
  • Platinum White Pearl
  • Urban Gray Pearl (new for 2025)

What’s It Like Inside?

Like we said, the Civic Si is practical, but not minimalist.  The inside is a near-perfect blend of sportiness and comfort. The red-stitched sport seats, aluminum pedals scream racecar, but then there is also the cushy, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated seats, and premium Bose sound system. You also have plenty of tech to keep things convenient, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto You also have the complete HondaSensing suite of safety features, of course.

Is The Honda Civic Si Considered a Reliable Car?

Yes, the Honda Civic Si is considered one of the most reliable sports sedans in its class. Honda has a reputation for building dependable vehicles, and the Civic Si is no exception. With proper maintenance, it can last well beyond 200,000 miles with minimal issues. The turbocharged engine has been refined over the years and the 2025 model has a retuned suspension for even better handling and longevity.

What Is The Primary Competitor of the Honda Civic Si?

The main competitor of the Honda Civic Si is the Volkswagen Jetta GLI. Both cars offer turbocharged performance, manual transmission options, and sporty styling. The Volkswagen is slightly more powerful at 228 hp, but it is also more expensive. The two are comparable in amenities, and we think an extra 28 hp is hardly worth an additional $2500 in price.

How Much Does It Cost?

The 2024 Honda Civic Si starts at approximately $29,000, which makes it one of the most affordable performance sedans on the market. With its features and capabilities, the Civic Si offers great value for those looking for a fun and reliable car without spending a fortune.
