2020 Honda Insight Fuel Economy
- EPA-estimated fuel economy: 55 MPG city, 49 MPG highway (LX and EX trims)
- Combined horsepower: 151.5 horsepower
- Transmission: e-CVT
When you’re driving a hybrid like the Honda Insight, you can expect some pretty impressive fuel economy specs. In fact, with the LX and EX trim levels, the 2020 Insight gets an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 55 MPG city and 49 MPG highway.1
With the Touring trim level, it gets an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of 51 MPG city and 45 MPG highway.1
It achieves these MPG ratings thanks to its powertrain. The Insight pairs a 1.5L, 107-horsepower I-4 engine with a 129-horsepower AC Synchronous Permanent-Magnet Electric Motor. Together, this system gets a combined output of 151.5 horsepower.
To round out this efficient powertrain, you’ve got an Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission (e-CVT). The e-CVT allows for nearly infinite shifts between the upper and lower limits to really maximize on efficiency and performance. It also includes a Sport Mode for those drives where you want an extra adrenaline kick.
Honda Insight Safety Ratings
The 2019 Honda Insight received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and we expect to see this trend continue with the 2020 model.2
The NHTSA tests a car’s crash worthiness in the event of a frontal or side impact or rollover situation. It also recommends specific safety technologies to help you be as safe and confident as possible when you hit the road. Specifically, the NHTSA recommends:
- Collision Mitigation Braking system™
- Forward Collision Warning
- Lane Departure Warning
- Road Departure Mitigation System
The great news is that all these features come standard with the 2020 Honda Insight, which makes its Honda Sensing® suite a regular feature on all trim levels.
It also comes with systems like Adaptive Cruise Control, which automatically adjusts your cruise control speed to go with the flow of traffic on the highway. A Multi-Angle Rearview Camera is a standard feature, as well.
Finally, let’s take a look at the comfortable cabin of the 2020 Honda Insight. This sedan gives you plenty of space for a total of five passengers. This includes the following interior measurements;
- Passenger volume: 97.6 cubic feet
- Headroom (front/rear): 39.3/36.9 inches
- Legroom (front/rear): 42.3/37.4 inches
Plus, it gives you 15.1 cubic feet of cargo volume in the trunk for loading up groceries, dance bags, or sporting equipment.
The interior also features an available 8-inch touchscreen display in the center stack complete with available Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration to help you stay entertained and connected while on-the-go.
