2019 Honda Pilot Review
Coming off a mid-cycle refresh for the new model year, the 2019 Honda Pilot hits the market with brand-new features, a sleek new style, and a now-standard suite of safety technology. The Pilot has consistently been highly ranked in the competitive class of midsize SUVs, but the recent updates and upgrades put it in the position to rise to the top.
Drivers in Centennial, Aurora, and Denver can discover more about the 2019 Honda Pilot with our comprehensive model review.
One aspect of the Pilot redesign was the interior, which has a new steering wheel, as well as a high-resolution center screen that replaces both the analog tachometer clock-radio-style digital speedometer. Some physical knobs and controls were added to improve usability and the upgraded infotainment system now includes 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability, which streams videos to the larger rear-seat entertainment screens.
The CabinTalk™ system is another new technology feature, which broadcasts the driver’s voice to all the passengers in the vehicle. This works whether the passengers are wearing headphones or not, so everyone can clearly hear important information in any scenario.
A 280-horsepower V6 engine is standard for the Pilot, which offers rapid acceleration for highway and passing power. It mates to a 6-speed automatic transmission that was refined for the new model year, providing smooth shifts that make the best use of the engine’s power. A 9-speed automatic transmission is available for more performance as well, which includes paddle shifters and stop-start technology for better efficiency and power.
The Pilot also has a smooth, comfortable ride quality that absorbs the road imperfections with ease. It also handles well, gliding through tight turns and keeping the body roll minimal for driver confidence and passenger comfort. Properly equipped, the Pilot can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
The Pilot has excellent safety ratings from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration¹ and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety². It earned top scores overall, as well as high scores in the individual crash test scenarios.
Another major change for the new model is the Honda Sensing® suite of advanced safety features, previously only available for upper trim levels, is now standard across the lineup. Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Parking Sensors, Blind-Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are just a few of these features, which combine to give you visibility, collision alerts, and improved protection on the road.
