2019 Honda Odyssey Review: Family-Friendly Technology
One of the reasons why the 2019 Odyssey is a favorite among local families is that it has so many convenient interior technologies.
Available CabinWatch™, for example, is a useful feature that turns your available 8-inch infotainment touchscreen into a camera. This way, you can view what’s happening in the rear seats without turning your head.
Available CabinTalk™ is another handy feature for when you have a rambunctious crew in the second and third rows. Simply press a button on the in-car PA system and you can communicate with passengers all the way in the back of the cabin without having to raise your voice.
If you need to keep everyone busy during long car rides, you may also appreciate the available Advanced Rear Entertainment System. This 10.2-inch panoramic video screen folds down from the roof of the vehicle, so that rear-seat passengers can watch Blu-ray™ discs or stream video from one of the built-in apps.
As the driver, you can keep your attention on the road and your hands safely on the wheel with the standard Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® feature. This wirelessly connects your smartphone with your car, so that you can easily make important phone calls while on-the-go—like letting the coach know you’re running late to practice.
Interior and Seating Dimension in the 2019 Odyssey Cabin
If you regularly carpool, you’ll probably appreciate that the Honda Odyssey can seat seven or eight passengers comfortably. This includes up to 38.3 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk for baseball equipment and dance bags.
If you need to open up a bit more space, you can fold down the third-row seats to access up to 92 cubic feet of cargo space. Have a large piece of furniture to carry home for your most recent home-improvement project? Lay the second-row seats down, too, and you’ll have an available 158 cubic feet of total cargo space.
In addition to the cargo area, the Odyssey also has the following interior dimensions:
- Headroom (front/middle/rear): 40.7/39.5/38.3 inches
- Legroom (front/middle/rear): 40.9/40.9/38.1 inches
Honda Odyssey Smart Safety Features
When you’re carrying precious cargo, you want to make sure that everyone reaches your destination safely. That’s why we love that the 2019 Honda Odyssey can help you be more aware of your surroundings with the available Honda Sensing® suite.
This includes a variety of smart safety features like:
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lane Departure Warning
- Forward Collision Warning
It also includes the available Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™). If the Forward Collision Warning System senses a potential hazard up ahead, CMBS™ will automatically hit the brakes, if necessary, to try to avoid an impact.
The Blind Spot Information System is available as well and helps you change lanes in well-traveled areas by providing a visual alert when another vehicle enters your side blind spots.
