2019 Honda HR-V Review
The 2019 Honda HR-V is a capable SUV with plenty of revisions for the new model year, including fresh styling, better features, and a range of new color options.
Drivers in Centennial, Denver, and Aurora can learn more about the 2019 Honda HR-V with our in-depth vehicle review.
The HR-V is equipped with a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that produces 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque, mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission. All-wheel drive is optional for most trims, but front-wheel drive is standard.
In addition to the rapid acceleration with this engine, the HR-V is an agile handler, providing excellent power, and maneuverability for both highway traffic and urban environments. It tackles the curves with poise and composure, backed by precise steering and strong brakes.
The HR-V earned high marks in independent and federal crash testing, following Honda’s long-standing reputation for durability and safety. It achieved both a 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration¹ and the highest rating of Good from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety².
Along with its inherent safety, the HR-V also comes standard with Honda Sensing®, a suite of advanced safety features. This includes Automatic Braking Technology, Forward Collision Warning with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure and Road Departure Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control. With these systems, you’ll be protected from a collision with early alerts and better awareness.
Interior Space and Comfort
Seating five people, the HR-V has high-quality, supportive seats that provide comfort for long distances, as well as ample head- and legroom throughout. Even tall or large adult passengers will be comfortable in the rear seat, which is unusual in this class.
The HR-V can haul all your gear as well. Despite its compact dimensions, the HR-V offers 24.3 cubic feet of space with the rear seats up, which expands to 58.8 cubic feet with the seats folded down. This is plenty of space for your luggage, shopping bags, camping equipment, and anything else you may need to haul.
The HR-V tech package comes standard with a 5-inch color LCD screen, Bluetooth® connectivity, a USB port, and a 160-watt stereo with four speakers. An additional USB, a 180-watt stereo with six speakers, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration are included for most models, giving you endless opportunities for entertainment on a long drive.
With smartphone integration, you can access all your media or local information from your phone’s apps as needed, and the addition of HD Radio™ and SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio provide extra entertainment options.
