The 2016 Honda CR-V comes standard with a 2.4-liter I-4 engine that produces 185 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. It has a 15.3-gallon fuel tank and is perfect for the regular commuter with a family.
Equipped with independent strut front suspension with coil springs and shock absorbers and independent multi-link rear suspension with coil springs and shock absorbers, the vehicle offers a smooth and comfortable ride quality.
The 2016 Honda Pilot offers more power production than the CR-V because it’s a bit larger. It comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces up to 280 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. It’s equipped with the same suspension system that you’ll find on the CR-V complete with multi-link rear suspension and independent front strut suspension, both with coil springs and shock absorbers.
The only major difference that you’ll find in performance between these two vehicles, aside from power, is in the turn radius. The turning diameter in the CR-V is 37.5 and the turning diameter of the Pilot is 39.4, so you’ll need a bit more room to turn the Pilot around than the CR-V. But the vehicle is larger, so that’s to be expected.
The first major difference between these two vehicles is the actual seating capacity. The 2016 Honda CR-V has enough seating for up to five passengers, while the Honda Pilot offers seating for up to eight passengers. Small families will be incredibly comfortable in the CR-V, but those with more kiddos or who like to bring along friends will enjoy the spaciousness of the Pilot.
The 2016 Honda Pilot also offers several standard driver convenience features that are only options on the Honda CR-V, including Honda LaneWatch. The Lane Keeping Assist System and Adaptive Cruise Control are available when you add Honda Sensing in the Pilot.
