The Latin American Culture is one steeped in tradition and history. About Museo De Las Americas

Museo De Las Americas was incorporated in April of 1991. A few months later, In August of 1992, Jose Aguayo became the Museo’s first executive director.

Since then, Museo De Las Americas has stood by its mission to “educate our community through collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting the diverse arts and cultures of the Americas, from ancient to contemporary, through innovative exhibitions and programs.”

It’s seen major milestones throughout its 28 years, including the unveiling of its 2,000-piece Latin American folk art collection in 2001. The Museo was even the recipient of the Mayor’s Design Award from the City and County of Denver in 2005 for its architectural improvements.

Rhythm and Ritual: Music of the Ancient Americas

This exhibit is a unique hybrid of both in-person and virtual experiences, showcasing over 80 musical instruments from 1000 BCE to 1530 CE. Discover the music of the Olmec, Andean, and Maya peoples, and learn how they incorporated music into their everyday lives.

La Misiòn

La Misiòn at the Tragen Folk Art Gallery is the centerpiece of the Museo. Featuring 20 pieces of art from the 17th century to present day, it tells a story of the people living in the Rio Grande River Valley.

Educational Programs & Events

MuseumApart from their exhibits, Museo De Las Americas also offers a selection of educational programs and events.

Join the Museo masters for weekly cultural art workshops, or partake in a STEAM workshop, which teaches the life and culture of Latin America through the lens of science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

One of the Museo’s most popular and exciting events is their annual Día de Los Muertos Celebration. Here, attendees can partake in a costume contest, traditional procession, sugar skull decorating, and much more.
