Located in Denver, the city’s oldest house stands strong as an interactive museum filled rich with history. Four Mile Historic Park aims to educate the local community of Denver’s western heritage through educational experiences and tours.
Through exhibits, demonstrations, and specialized programs, Four Mile Historic Park is a premier destination for both residents and tourists of all ages. This month we’re shining a spotlight on this historic preservation.
Immerse Your Classroom in Pioneer Life
Give your students an interactive experience that will not only teach them a few things about Colorado’s rich history, but also create lasting memories that will remain for years to come. Four Mile Historic Park offers different programs with a variety of educational activities. You can select the one that works best for your classroom schedule.
- Pioneer Sampler: Choose your own adventure and select multiple activities to give your class the ultimate frontier experience. These options include one-room schoolhouse lessons, daily farm chores, cooking over an open fire, panning for gold, churning butter, and more!
- Traveling the Cherokee Trail: Immerse your class in the 1860s where they will experience the adventures and hardships of covered wagon life. Teamwork and cooperation are key in this program, as “family groups” will travel to five activity stations where they will need to learn to work together in order to complete each activity and travel out West.
- Westward Ho!: This program is offered only during the last two weeks of April and the month of May and spots fill up fast. Students will learn to appreciate the 700-mile/12-week pioneer journey across the Midwest with six hands-on activities.
