With March drawing near, Denverites are prepping to paint the town green. Check out these three St. Patrick’s Day events in Denver, CO, for plenty of St. Patty’s themed fun with your loved ones!
Denver’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Endearingly referred to as the Irish Stampede, Denver’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a joyful event that brings together more than 200,000 Colorado residents every year to commemorate Irish heritage and tradition and Colorado’s western culture and influence.
This mashup of where the wild, wild west meets the luck of the Irish harkens back to when the first wave of Irish immigrants came to Colorado to mine for gold. The parade has been a main event in Denver that marks St. Patty’s Day and the start of spring for 52 years and counting.
Make plans to claim your spot on the parade route on the morning of March 12 to see 10,000 participants strut their stuff, among them cowboys and river dancers, horses, and pipe bands who all make up this festive celebration of cultures in downtown Denver.
Fadó Irish Pub
Most would agree that Fadó Irish Pub is a fitting place to cozy up on St. Patty’s Day. What you may not be aware of is that Fadó sponsors a daytime Irish party that’s adult and kid friendly with five live bands, face painting, and tons of shamrock shakin’ fun.
Of course, Fadó’s also serves up their finest traditional Irish fare throughout the course of the big day and night, from Irish brunch to shepherd’s pie or fish and chips, complimented by your choice of Irish beverage, including over 40 types of whiskey.
Purchase tickets to Fadó’s outdoor St. Patty’s Day event through their website.
Runnin’ of the Green
Get into your green running gear and get moving when you sign up for the 28th Annual Runnin’ of the Green 7K race in Historic LoDo on March 13. With 7K and 2.2-mile runs and walks taking place throughout the morning, Runnin’ of the Green has a race for everyone in the family.
And after you’ve gotten your exercise for the day, stick around for an Irish block party between 17th and 20th on Wazee with Irish eats, live music and traditional dance, and a performance by the Colorado Youth Pipe Band.
What’s even better? The green you put down for your race fee goes toward a great cause: Volunteers of America’s Colorado Branch and Meals on Wheels.
